Pray

By Pastor Stephen Gibson

Hopefully it would be difficult to find a believer who doesn’t agree prayer is important. Jesus directed His followers to watch and pray. He taught them to pray. He demonstrated what it was to live a life of prayer. His prayer in John 17 is the longest prayer recorded in the New Testament. We would agree on the importance of prayer. The main variation would be how we implement that belief in our lives.

One nudge in spurring us to a deeper prayer experience is the Ten Days of Prayer held each January. This month from the 11th to the 21st we are invited to turn our attention to prayer. (For more information go to www.tendaysofprayer.org)

There is something significant about uniting in prayer. Those who choose to do that can participate at our church on Sabbath mornings praying before Sabbath School or on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 along with our Bible study. And this January is the best one yet to begin a new plan for prayer.

We live in a wide valley with many churches, so it is infrequent that we are brought together. Camp meeting in Prescott is one of those times. So if you are planning ahead, this year camp meeting begins the evening of June 9, a Friday, and continues until June 17th. This is a great time to fellowship with our Adventist brothers and sisters who are looking for God’s Spirit and direction in their lives. If you would like to participate in any portion of camp meeting, there is more information on our conference website: azconference.org

What better time than now to be in prayer as we begin a new year in anticipation of God’s mighty hand in our lives, in our local church, in our community, and to the ends of the earth.

The good news remains: Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear (Isaiah 59:1 NKJV). What will God hear from you today? This week? This year?
